The Dunes Hotel
The Dunes Hotel is set in stunning countryside, with...you guessed it...equally stunning views of the surrounding lakes and mountains. The Lake District
If you can manage to drag yourself away from all that the hotel has to offer, you'll find a whole host of things to see and do. The Lake District has long preserved a reputation as a walker’s paradise with its endless expanse of rolling hills, lakes and paths to be explored - so make sure you pack your walking boots! Nearby Barrow-in-Furness has a rich history dating back to the 12th century. The town was founded by the Cistercian monks of Furness Abbey, and it grew in importance as a centre of shipbuilding and engineering in the 19th century. Just a short drive from Barrow-in-Furness is the unspoilt village of Cartmel. Cartmel is a picture-perfect village with a delightful olde-worlde feel. The village is home to a number of medieval buildings, including Cartmel Priory, which is one of the most important Cistercian ruins in England. Cartmel is also home to a number of mouth-watering cafes and gift shops, making it the perfect place to take a leisurely afternoon stroll.

A last minute booking and hoping for a couple of warmer dry motorcycling days. Took us a while to find the hotel as we missed the sign and it's quite hidden away. A little apprehensive as there's quite a few industrial units in the area. Very pleasantly surprised when we eventually arrived - quiet and no sign of any industry. Lovely hotel with a nautical theme. Nice big room, comfy king bed, clean bathroom with a good shower, plenty of sockets for phones, tablets, etc. We enjoyed our complimentry bottle of a very nice red wine with dinner - husband had the lamb an I had king prawn and chorizo pasta. Breakfast was also very good - choice of cerial, fruit, croissants, juice, tea or coffee and a good choice of cooked breakfast. Last but not least, all the staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. No complaints about anything.

Lovely relaxing stay. Very remote location, quiet bar, no TV in the bar. Great staff and decor. One Waitress/barmaid and one chef done a Great job looking after the whole bar, restaurant and kitchen. Rooms adequate.

Great weekend -We came here for a family weekend away. Overall we were very pleased. Rooms were of a decent size, clean, comfortable and warm. Breakfast was great - loads of choice and plenty of it. We ate dinner in the hotel one night and it was excellent. Really tasty, well cooked food.

A really nice place to stay - A lovely hotel and very dog friendly. Our Cockapoo enjoyed every minute. Treats on the table and a sausage every morning!

Fantastic dog friendly hotel - Just got back from a mid week break in the lakes. We booked a last minute trip and for the price that we paid we thought it was excellent value for money.
